Maturation: Matured in a combination of large French oak vat and French oak barrels for twelve months.
Colour: Vibrant blood plum.
Nose: Lifted with savoury notes of warm spice overlayed and perfumed by aromatics reminiscent of dark berried fruit: Fresh cherries, mulberries and blackberries.
Palate: Savoury and robust with textural tannins which linger, giving plenty of support to the flavoursome notes of blueberries, cranberries and liquorice.
Vintage Conditions: 2015 growing season in the Barossa began well with above average and early winter rains, this was followed by a warm dry spring setting up the canopies for the season well. A rain event in January refreshed the vineyards whilst the balance of January, February and March were relatively warm and dry. Montepulciano is a later ripening variety and our vineyard, planted on deep red clay over ironstone, relished these conditions and was harvested on the 1st of April.
: This wine is a perfect match for food and an ideal match to be shared with charcoal fired meats served with grilled vegetables.
