The essence of Saltram is its rich and expressive style. Old Barossa Valley vineyards, the unique Angaston mineral soils, localised climatic influences and a touch of classy winemaking makes it instantly recognisable.
A Barossa icon since 1859, many of Australia's most influential and celebrated winemakers have passed through Saltram's cellar doors. Today, the winemaking excellence continues with Shavaughn Wells.
On March 20 1862, Saltram crushed its first grapes and produced 1800 gallons of a wine that was simply called ‘No 1. Shiraz’.
Blackberries, blood plums, 80% cocoa dark chocolate and harmoniously kept away from "sweet" with hints of savoury black olives and complex spice notes.
Flavours and Palate
Full and powerful with rich, elegant, varietal flavours of cassis, blood plum and dark cherries that make this wine invoke images of regality.
Further chocolate and blackberry notes swim gently through to the back palate. With your feet up and the sound of rain outside, you find appreciation for the existence of bliss.
